September: 3 Things I’m Loving!

Somehow it’s already September and I have been on a couple rides in the last week with three new pieces of “equipment” that have been pretty life-changing. I don’t want to sound dramatic, but those are literally the words I used when I was talking to Spur about it on our solo ride last week. Life. Changing.

First, this cantle bag from Outback Trading Co. I literally don’t know where I have been (living under a rock?!) but it’s the greatest thing since sliced wonder bread… and I love me some sliced wonder bread. It’s waterproof, it’s easy to attach, it’s easy to get into, and it fits my heavy coat, my fleece when the morning chill burns off, my halter and lead rope, AND MY TRIPOD. That’s right. I’m pretty much unstoppable now because I can take my tripod riding with me. (I have refused to spend “good money” on a tripod that folds up small enough to fit in my saddle bags so I have been using this cheap tripod for years and now I don’t have to invest in a nicer one!)

We’ll just stick with the Outback Trading Co. theme and tell you that this fleece big shirt is my favorite. As you can see, you can wear it open like a jacket, you can button it closed, you can fit your lightweight button up under it no problem and it’s SSSSOOOOO cozy! Plus I love the bright colors. (FYI, I am generally a ‘small’ but I went with a medium for the longer sleeves and more room to fit over my button ups and it’s perfect.)

Last, but not least, I was due for a new pair of boots. Most of you probably know I prefer to ride in ‘buckaroo’ style boots, with a 16″ shaft and tall riding heel. If you’ve been shopping for women’s buckaroo boots, you probably also know that they are becoming harder and harder to find. So I stepped out of my comfort zone and got this pair of Twisted X buckaroo boots and then was super brave and rode in them on back-to-back days… and my feet didn’t hurt. It was like slipping my feet into tennie-runners from day one.

None of these are affiliate links, I’m sharing with you just because I’m really pleased with these products and figured they might help someone else out, too!

WELCOME TO THE BLOG

Fueled by equal parts horse hair and passion, I spend my days capturing the kinds of images that make you stop, smile and ask time to please slow down. Your story, your love, is beautiful and I can’t wait to capture it in images you will treasure for years to come. I believe in real moments and heartfelt conversations on the front porch. In the kinds of images that remind you of the joy that can be found in the simplest of moments together.
