Embracing the Good

Can we be mighty real for a second? Like, uncomfortably real. Just let me get this out.

I’ve been really, really down lately.

I’ve spent a lot of time questioning a lot of things, evaluating things I thought I knew to be true, and fearing for a future full of unknowns.

Let me tell you something, this is not healthy. Sure, some self-reflection and questioning can be good for a person but I was literally living in my head. And let’s be honest, that’s a scary place to be.

I’m not saying I’m magically ‘better’, but I’m making an effort everyday to focus on the good things:

  • When you go through tough times, it really puts your friendships to the test. And let me tell you, I am so, so blessed with the friends in my life. I’m counting family in this bucket, too.
  • My critters may be spread far and wide, but I know they are all being taken care of and loved and for that, I am grateful. Plus I still get to go ‘home’ to Piper and Lucy and I can’t even put into words how lucky I am for that.
  • People are kind. I’ll be completely honest here, I’m not the world’s biggest people person and most of the time the thought of interacting with people, especially strangers, scares me. But as I get older and grow into myself, I’ve learned the beautiful truth that people really are kind.
  • God opens doors and puts people in your life that you need, and when you least expect it. Let’s all just take a moment to think about that… because really, that’s the biggest blessing I can think of right now. His timing is perfect.

“Every day may not be good but there is something good in every day.”

  • I agree, there’s good in everyday…some days we have to sort a lot of funk to find it, but it’s there.

I❤️your post and pics. 6 months from now, you won’t feel this down. A year from now, you may not recognize the pains you currently feel. Time seems to gift us the magic wand for sorting…and God pours clarification in due time.

WELCOME TO THE BLOG

Fueled by equal parts horse hair and passion, I spend my days capturing the kinds of images that make you stop, smile and ask time to please slow down. Your story, your love, is beautiful and I can’t wait to capture it in images you will treasure for years to come. I believe in real moments and heartfelt conversations on the front porch. In the kinds of images that remind you of the joy that can be found in the simplest of moments together.
