Words and Pictures

For as long as I can remember, it’s always been words and pictures. What’s always been words and pictures, you ask? My life. I’ve always been obsessed with words and pictures.

This blog and my Instagram are starting to make sense, huh?

When I was a kid I would live for those times I got my hands on the camera. And when the film got developed we would have SO MANY PHOTOS of all of our animals, with either their heads or their feet cut off. I didn’t say I was good at it, I said I loved it!

I have also always been a reader and, for a lot of years, kept a journal. I have a ton of books (the physical kind that I can lend to friends and re-read and let fall on my face when I fall asleep in bed) as well as notebooks upon notebooks filled with my “journaling”.

In high school I had the unique opportunity to write for our local paper. I got to write an opinion column as well as cover our high school cross country team’s season. At the time, I was 100% sure I was going to be a journalist, that someday people were going to read my words and look at my photos and I would make them feel something.

So I went off to college to study Journalism and a couple of things happened: First, you had to pass Spanish to continue on the journalistic path and I couldn’t seem to do that. Second, everything was moving online and I was afraid a degree in Journalism wouldn’t yield a job upon graduation. So I switched my degree to Business.

But isn’t life ironic? It may not pay my bills but here I am, 10 years later, pursuing my passion in words and pictures. Most of the time I even get my subject’s head AND feet in the photos!

(Thanks for always being willing to ‘model’, Kelly!)

WELCOME TO THE BLOG

Fueled by equal parts horse hair and passion, I spend my days capturing the kinds of images that make you stop, smile and ask time to please slow down. Your story, your love, is beautiful and I can’t wait to capture it in images you will treasure for years to come. I believe in real moments and heartfelt conversations on the front porch. In the kinds of images that remind you of the joy that can be found in the simplest of moments together.
