Practicing Patience

Patience is not my forte. I am not naturally a patient person, and this stage of life may be the most difficult for me to practice patience in.

Lord, help me.

In mid November (2020 of all years), we made an offer on a piece of property in Montana, out of the blue and way ahead of “schedule”. A few things came together for this to be possible, including the listing price, the market and interest rates, and the property itself being very near and dear to my heart… among other things. We knew we could rent it out until we were ready to make the move and be able to afford the remainder of the mortgage not covered by rent.

All of these initial conversations and number crunching and official documents happened very quickly as properties like this were selling sight unseen the same day they were listed in the area we were looking in. It felt like a whirlwind at first. Our offer was accepted, tons of paperwork was signed, some hard earned money was exchanged, a last minute trip was planned (after we were fairly committed) to view what we had agreed to purchase… complete elation.

And now we wait.

We are under contract, we’ve had the inspection, the appraisal is scheduled… but our property, naturally, is a bit of a unique circumstance and it will take some time to get all the paperwork squared away to actually close on the transaction. Our current estimate is February 2021.

Which is “fine” because we aren’t planning to move right away but it’s also nerve wracking because we so badly want it to be official and real.

February doesn’t seem like too long to wait, right? Why would Briana struggle with being patient for such a short time frame?

Oh, no…. that’s not it. The thing is, we want/need to be debt free (other than our mortgage) before we can realistically afford to make the move to Montana. Moving back to Montana will be a dream come true but it also comes with some harsh realities: we will not be able to make the same wages we make in Washington. Not by a long shot. So in order to afford a change in location, we are working diligently to pay off all of our other debt.

And we are so close! But it takes the time that it takes and we have a lease agreement on the property we live on here so, realistically (not my favorite word haha), we are looking at a move date (at the very latest) in late Summer 2022. Praying for sooner!

WELCOME TO THE BLOG

Fueled by equal parts horse hair and passion, I spend my days capturing the kinds of images that make you stop, smile and ask time to please slow down. Your story, your love, is beautiful and I can’t wait to capture it in images you will treasure for years to come. I believe in real moments and heartfelt conversations on the front porch. In the kinds of images that remind you of the joy that can be found in the simplest of moments together.
