Introducing: Buck

The night after Sassy foaled, Kelly had a super long day scheduled at work and was planning on not coming home in an attempt to get a little more sleep and have a little less drive time.

So what did Sandra decide to do? Have a baby. While I was home alone.

She started waxing sometime during the day on Tuesday the 13th and showing signs of the first stage of labor by evening. Kelly had been watching the mare cam from work and called to let me know her water broke at about 10:15pm so I got out of bed, got dressed and snuck outside to watch the mare cam from my phone – close enough to help if needed but far enough away that she didn’t know I was there.

Her foal hit the ground amidst a flurry of congratulatory hee-haws and whinnies at about 10:40pm.

A big, beautiful, dun stud colt.

Welcome to the world, Buck (Owens)!

(He’s really difficult to get photos of because he’s so dang friendly!)

WELCOME TO THE BLOG

Fueled by equal parts horse hair and passion, I spend my days capturing the kinds of images that make you stop, smile and ask time to please slow down. Your story, your love, is beautiful and I can’t wait to capture it in images you will treasure for years to come. I believe in real moments and heartfelt conversations on the front porch. In the kinds of images that remind you of the joy that can be found in the simplest of moments together.
