The Story of Wrangler

I grew up around horses. I’ve heard “you can’t ride color” and “the best color of horse is fat” my entire life. I know conformation is important and breeding can be telling and a good disposition is paramount.

Still, I paid my deposit on a 3 month old colt because he was “pretty”.

If it wasn’t the luckiest poorly reasoned purchase of my life, I’d feel ashamed.

I actually saw an ad on Craigslist for Wrangler’s half brother and that’s who I went to look at. But while I was there I pointed at Wrangler and asked if he was available. When the answer was “yes”, I paid my deposit and went on my merry way.

When he was six months old and I was due to pick him up, I had no horse trailer. Again, I turned to Craigslist and found one that would do so I drove 3 hours in the opposite direction of my little horse to buy this OLD horse trailer, then another 2+ hours in a snow storm to pick up said little horse.

He was still pretty though, so that’s good.

I had never been around a weanling, let alone an untouched weanling who wanted nothing to do with me. So my Grandpa came over and helped me get a halter on him. After that, Wrangler decided to be an “easy” horse.

He turned six this year (I can’t believe it!) and while he’s not “fancy broke”, he’s safe and willing and loves to adventure.

I got lucky with my “because he’s pretty” purchase.

WELCOME TO THE BLOG

Fueled by equal parts horse hair and passion, I spend my days capturing the kinds of images that make you stop, smile and ask time to please slow down. Your story, your love, is beautiful and I can’t wait to capture it in images you will treasure for years to come. I believe in real moments and heartfelt conversations on the front porch. In the kinds of images that remind you of the joy that can be found in the simplest of moments together.
