Sassy is a 16 year old maiden mare and we’ve determined she probably has a low pain tolerance threshold. We determined this while she was bringing Dwight into the world.
Sassy’s body was telling her she needed to be on her back to push, but of course she can’t balance on her back so it was ugly. We let her have some time to try to figure things out but we decided we needed to intervene to keep everyone safe and have the best chance for a happy outcome. The next time she rested on her side, Kelly stepped in and applied steady pressure toward her feet until the baby’s shoulders were out. Then, instead of resting like she was *supposed* to, she felt the need to immediately stand up so Kelly had to spring into action and move the baby out of harms way.
She went and stood at the opposite end of the stall, glad to be done with the whole motherhood thing.
Until she saw him standing.
Then she laid claim to him with a fierce possessiveness that only a true mother could feel.
True to his dam, he is a sassy little bugger with his own ideas about the world and his place in it.
Anyway, meet Dwight (Yoakam).

Dwight! Could it be like Dwight from the office? He’s so cute it makes my heart hurt trying to restrain the urge to force myself on him and squeeze him!
Looooooove the name and the continued singer names!!! Also that second black and white with him sniffing Sassy is hands down the best. I feel like that is motherhood photo.
