2019 Reflections & 2020 Aspirations

I literally just posted on my Instagram that I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions because I prefer to set goals and work toward them in a time frame that works for me and I don’t believe I need a “new year” to set “new goals”.

And all of that is true!

But I also believe in reflection and I probably don’t share as many of my goals and the things I’m working toward as I could.

First things first: One huge personal thing I am working toward is paying off all my debt. I will (eventually) publish a blog post detailing EVERYTHING, baring my soul to the world, but not until my debt balance is zero. I really want it to be a post of what I actually accomplished and not another post of what I “plan to eventually accomplish”.

In 2019, I paid down $21k worth of debt, added zero dollars worth of debt, and officially paid off my pickup!

For the first time in about seven years, I felt confident on horseback again. I planned and accomplished more big rides, I felt less fear, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent horseback taking in new country.

Thanks to Instagram, I’ve gotten to meet some truly spectacular people and work with some awesome companies. This introvert has expanded her friendship circle and I am so grateful for the little app that has helped me do that!

In 2019 I focused internally on continuing to use the app “for good”, sharing what I wanted to share when I wanted to share it despite things maybe not being received well or “engaging well” in the terms of social media managers everywhere. I truly value the relationships made and fostered on Instagram, and I plan to continue to focus on those.

I spent A LOT of time (6 months?!) working on my graphic tee project before launching it and I was SO TERRIFIED of a couple of things: Failure (obviously, I feel like that’s a natural fear when starting a new venture) but, probably less obvious, I was afraid I wouldn’t like it. I was afraid I wouldn’t like the added responsibility of keeping an inventory, shipping, etc. Want to know what’s funny about that? It’s my favorite dang part! I love sending these labors of love out into the world, I love sending hand written thank-you notes, I love when you tag me on Instagram that your turquoise package has arrived. I. LOVE. IT. ALL.

I have big plans for 2020 that really have nothing to do with the new year and everything to do with continuing to chase my goals and work toward my dreams.

I hope to continue to push my photography, work toward mastering my new GoPro, continue to prioritize paying off my debt, launch new shirt designs, explore more country on my horse with Kelly by my side (and Smalls stuffed in my saddle bag…), and pursue and foster more meaningful relationships.

Thank you for tagging along on these wild rides, my friends!

WELCOME TO THE BLOG

Fueled by equal parts horse hair and passion, I spend my days capturing the kinds of images that make you stop, smile and ask time to please slow down. Your story, your love, is beautiful and I can’t wait to capture it in images you will treasure for years to come. I believe in real moments and heartfelt conversations on the front porch. In the kinds of images that remind you of the joy that can be found in the simplest of moments together.
